On July 23, 2011, Clarine Butcher Ruffin was called home by her Heavenly Father. Mrs. Ruffin was born on April 12, 1921 to the late Mr. S. and Josephine Butcher of Petersburg, Virginia. Mrs. Ruffin was employed with Macklin Zimmer-McGill for over forty years. She was a member of Third Baptist Church on Lavender Lane in Petersburg, Virginia and she worked with the foster grandparents program. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William (Peg) Ruffin, Jr., five children: William Ruffin, Charles Ruffin, Shirley Gill, Larry Ruffin and Laverne Harper. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Deacon Ralph Ruffin (Emma) of Dinwiddie, Virginia, Catherine Winbush of Petersburg, VA, Charmaine Ruffin of Colonial Heights, VA, Mona Lisa Ruffin of Laurel, Maryland, Andre Ruffin of Petersburg, VA, Tony Ruffin (Denise) of Maryland, a grandson whom she raised; sister-in-law, Bernice Watson of Petersburg; two nieces, Dorothy Butcher of Tampa, FL and Loretta Jaysura of Bronx, NY; nephews, Howard Ruffin of Prince George’s County, MD, Henry Martin, Jr. of Eastern Shore and Willie Watson, Jr. of Washington DC; thirty-two grandchildren, eighty-three great grandchildren, twenty-seven great-great grandchildren, several others including special cousins, John Holleman and Earl Goodrich, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and neighbors. The family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Booram, Care Alternative Hospice and Adult Health Care Solutions, Inc.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. at the chapel of the William N. Bland and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Larry Brown, Sr., pastor of the Gravel Run Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, Eulogizing. The interment will be in the Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
